José Darey Castro Bio / Wiki
José Darey Castro is the lead vocalist and driving creative force behind Los Dareyes de la Sierra. He plays the accordion, writes songs and has co-produced material, which makes him more than a frontman.
Most wiki-style pages describe him as a bandleader who stayed loyal to a traditional sound while the genre changed around him. That patience is a big part of why Jose darey castro is getting fresh attention today.
- Leads the group as singer, accordionist and songwriter across several eras of the band.
- Co-wrote and co-produced Frecuencia, a standout track from the Redención deluxe edition.
- Built his reputation on norteño, banda and romantic ballads before the newer collaborations.
- Appears in credits simply as Darey Castro, which causes some search confusion.
- Keeps his private life out of the spotlight, so many personal details stay unconfirmed.
Jose Darey Castro & Date of Birth
Bio sites widely list his date of birth as April 22, 1980. That puts Jose darey castro at 46 years old in November 2026, since his birthday already passed this year.
One streaming profile shows a much later birth year. That looks like a data error, because the band was formed in 1997 and a teenager in 1980 fits the founding story far better than someone born in the 2000s.
| Item | Detail |
| Date of Birth | April 22, 1980 |
| Zodiac Sign | Taurus |
| Age (November 2026) | 46 |

Early Life and Education
Most sources place his roots in the Sinaloa and Sonora region, where corridos and norteño music are part of daily life. Music reached him early, and by his teens he was already playing in a group.
His formal education is not publicly documented. No reliable source names a school or degree, so it is better to leave that blank than guess. What the record does show is a young musician who chose the stage over the classroom and stayed with that choice for decades.
José Darey Castro Career Journey
The group began in 1997 and was originally known as Los Alteños de la Sierra, with Miguel Enrique Razcón and Juan Vázquez supporting the lineup. It later became Los Dareyes de la Sierra, with Darey Castro out front.
Over the years the band built a catalog of albums, banda versions and compilations, then returned in 2025 with a collaboration-heavy project.
| Year | Release | Note |
| 2000 | Duelo de Shakas | Early album that built regional popularity |
| 2005 | El Águila Real | Mid-career release |
| 2008 | Con Banda | Includes the banda ballad Adiós Mi Amor |
| 2015 | Tienes Todo | Produced six charting singles |
| 2025 | Redención | Collaborations with newer stars |
Rise to Fame
The group’s early popularity came from the 2000s albums, and Adiós Mi Amor carried far beyond Mexico. A Peruvian singer, Daniela Darcourt, released a salsa cover in 2018, which shows how far the song traveled.
- Founded in 1997 and grew through steady albums rather than one viral moment.
- Adiós Mi Amor from 2008 became a lasting banda ballad.
- Tienes Todo in 2015 delivered six charting singles.
- Younger artists later credited the group as an influence.
- Redención in 2025 brought the band to a new generation.
Major Achievements
The biggest recent milestone is Redención, which features Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, Gabito Ballesteros, Luis R Conriquez, Alfredo Olivas and Grupo Firme. It turned a veteran act into a headline name again.
The Redención Tour, announced June 25, 2025, was the first U.S. run, with 20 cities from The Belasco in Los Angeles to the Roseland Theater in Portland. The Los Angeles Times also ran a feature on the album, titled “Dareyes de la Sierra gets his redemption.”
How Much Is Jose Darey Castro’s Net Worth in 2026?

José Darey Castro Personal Life & Relationships
He keeps family matters private, and the media has largely respected that. No reliable source confirms a wife, marital status or children, and several pages that claim details do not cite anything solid.
For that reason this article does not name a partner or family member. If he chooses to share more, official social channels or major interviews will be the place to look first.
José Darey Castro Physical Appearance
Exact height and weight are not confirmed by an official source, although a few bio blogs quote numbers. Since those figures are not sourced, it is safer to describe what fans can actually see.
On stage he comes across as a seasoned performer, usually focused on the accordion and the crowd. Concert photos and tour coverage show a confident presence that matches a career built on live performance.
José Darey Castro Awards & Achievements
Formal award lists for him are thin in reliable sources, so here are the verifiable milestones instead.
| Milestone | Year | Detail |
| RIAA certification | 2025–2026 | A U.S. certification is listed for Frecuencia |
| Redención release | 2025 | Collaboration album with major regional stars |
| Redención Tour | 2025 | First 20-city U.S. tour |
| Los Angeles Times feature | 2025 | Profile and album interview |
| Adiós Mi Amor cover | 2018 | Salsa version by Daniela Darcourt |
José Darey Castro Hobbies & Interests
Public sources list no confirmed hobbies, and guessing would not help you. What is clear is that music fills most of his public life: playing the accordion, writing songs and shaping the sound of the band.
His interest in collaboration shows in the Redención lineup, where he worked with artists who grew up on his records. That openness to younger voices is the closest thing to a documented passion outside the stage.
José Darey Castro Known Facts
A few details are worth keeping straight, especially since other pages mix them up.
- He is the lead vocalist and accordionist of Los Dareyes de la Sierra.
- The group formed in 1997 under the earlier name Los Alteños de la Sierra.
- Frecuencia was released June 5, 2025, written by Darey Castro and Estevan Plazola.
- The song was produced by Pablo Molina and Castro himself.
- His birthplace is listed as Badiraguato, Sinaloa, though the band is based in Navojoa, Sonora.
Darey Castro
“Darey Castro” is the form you will see in songwriting and production credits. It is the same person as Jose darey castro, just the shorter credit name used on tracks like Frecuencia.
Searching only that short name can bring up unrelated results, including other people with similar names. If you want the singer, add Dareyes de la Sierra or Los Dareyes de la Sierra to the query and the right profile shows up quickly.
Dareyes de la Sierra Age
This one trips people up because “Dareyes de la Sierra” is both a group name and the stage name used for the frontman. Some pages that discuss the group’s age mix up the band’s founding year with the singer’s birth year.
The group formed in 1997, which makes the band about 29 years old. The singer, born April 22, 1980, is 46. Keeping those two numbers separate removes most of the confusion around Dareyes de la Sierra age searches.
Jose Darey Castro Age
The short answer is that José darey castro age is 46 as of November 2026, based on an April 22, 1980 birth date listed across bio sites. His next birthday falls on April 22, 2027, when he turns 47.
Because the birth year comes from bio sites rather than an official document, it is best treated as widely reported, not formally confirmed. The timeline supports it, though, since a founding member at age 17 fits the 1997 start.
How Old Is Jose Darey Castro in 2026?
He is 46 years old in 2026. That figure assumes the commonly listed April 22, 1980 birth date, and his birthday for this year has already passed.
Anyone quoting 45 is using an older article written before April 2026. Anyone quoting a much younger age is likely reading a mislabeled streaming profile, so the 46 figure is the safest one to publish.
Who Is Jose Darey Castro’s Wife?
No wife or partner is publicly confirmed. Jose darey castro keeps his relationships out of interviews and social posts, and credible outlets have not reported any verified details.
Some blogs name a spouse or children without sources, and those claims should be skipped. Until he speaks about it himself, the accurate answer is that his marital status is private.
What Is Dareyes de la Sierra’s Real Name?
The name used in bios is José Darey Castro. “Dareyes de la Sierra” is the stage and group name, while Darey Castro is the credit name you see on songwriting and production lines.
So all three names point to the same musician. That is why searches for Jose darey castro, Darey Castro and Los Dareyes de la Sierra keep landing on the same artist.
Where Is Jose Darey Castro From?
Most bio listings say he was born in Badiraguato, Sinaloa, Mexico. Others point to Navojoa, Sonora, which is where the band is widely based and where it became known.
The likely explanation is simple: Sinaloa is commonly cited for birth and Sonora for the group’s base. Both regions sit at the heart of norteño and corridos culture, which shaped his sound.
Which Songs Made Jose Darey Castro Famous?
Adiós Mi Amor from 2008 is one of the biggest, helped by the 2018 salsa cover from Daniela Darcourt. Frecuencia from 2025 became a major recent hit, with a U.S. certification listed.
Albums such as Con Banda and Tienes Todo also built his name. Together these tracks show how Jose darey castro moved from classic banda ballads to modern collaborations.
José Darey Castro Future Plans & Goals
After the Redención run and the first U.S. tour, the natural next step is more recording and live dates. I did not find a confirmed new album or tour announcement for late 2026, so nothing specific should be reported as fact.
- Continue touring after the Redención Tour built a U.S. audience.
- Keep collaborating with younger Música Mexicana artists.
- Release new songs through his own writing and production.
- Grow the Los Dareyes de la Sierra catalog on streaming platforms.
- Announce plans through official social channels first.
